This was my second film with director Martin Scorsese and a fabulous one to work on and on a massive scale. I’m proud of it.
It was set in the Golden Age of Hollywood and I had these brilliant real-life characters to dress – Howard Hughes [Leonardo DiCaprio], Katharine Hepburn [Cate Blanchett], Ava Gardner [Kate Beckinsale] and Jean Harlow [Gwen Stefani]. It had to look realistically period and there was enough glamour and extravagance to not have to heighten anything.
