LUCY’S DEMISE
Research that took place in 2016 – 42 years after Lucy’s remains were uncovered – has been used in an effort to determine the circumstances around how Lucy died.
Anthropologists at the University of Texas at Austin suggest that her skeleton’s condition and location mean she is likely to have fallen to her death from a great height. To come to this conclusion, the researchers analysed the skeleton and made educated assumptions about her way of life.
