Running on water

Meet the common basilisk, also known as the Jesus Christ lizard due to its ability to run on water. These reptiles rapidly move their hind legs, which act as paddles on the water. Their rear feet have long toes that allow their skin to flatten as they make contact with the water. This skin increases their surface area on the water, so as long as they are running fast, it prevents them from sinking.
