Ending Social Isolation
Contact the Elderly encourages people to let friendship blossom this spring
With spring finally upon us Contact the Elderly is encouraging people to share tea, cake and, most importantly, company with older people in its bid to end social isolation.
Contact the Elderly runs 115 tea parties throughout Scotland, from the Borders to the Highlands, extending the lifeline of friendship to more than 1000 older people through a network in excess of 1300 volunteers.
In 2017, the charity plans to introduce at least one new group each month and hopes to encourage potential volunteers and guests from all walks of life.
The tea parties generally take place one Sunday afternoon a month in a volunteer host’s home. Guests are collected and accompanied by a volunteer driver to enjoy an afternoon of shared stories and laughter.
