My room...
My problem guest room
The house had been rented out and was dirty, run-down and really needed modernising. This room was a good size with a big window letting in plenty of light and we knew it would make an ideal guest room. It had peeling chipboard wallpaper painted in magnolia and bare, untreated floorboards. The fireplace was original but its hearth tiles were broken, and the window needed replacing.
How I made it work
We had the walls replastered, then Elliot and I painted them in white. We had a new window put in, put up a picture rail and painted it bright yellow, then used a bold pink on the skirting, door frame and fireplace. We re-tiled the hearth, created a feature wall and sanded, stained and varnished the original pine floorboards.
My favourite part
I am particularly proud of Elliot’s tiling of the hearth because it is so precise and neat. I also love how the bold colours have all come together so well.
