INTRODUCTION

BEING PART OF THE WORKFORCE HAS BEEN AN INVALUABLE EXPERIENCE

As one of the student representatives on the editorial board of this journal, it gives me great pleasure to introduce this special themed edition on the student experience.

It contains a range of material and information on what it has been like being a student (or academic) during the difficult 2019/20 academic year because of the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown, and how things will be in this academic year – and possibly even further ahead.

Being a third year mental health nursing student has brought about a number of challenges and experiences that I could not have foreseen at the beginning of my academic year (March 2020).
