COVID-19 has had a dramatic effect on Coventry University’s School of Health and our student population – both established and new.
Having worked at the university for around five and half years, with three years in the mental health team, I have seen a continual push to innovate and develop, and increase placement capacity for our mental health nursing students. However, we have never faced a challenge as momentous as that set by the pandemic, which has given the mental health nursing team multi-layered problems to solve.
This includes supporting current students, and particularly the third-year students, who were due to qualify, and going out to practise under the emergency conditions while having to complete their academic work at the same time.
