Negative perceptions of mental health and a lack of understanding about roles are putting people off pursuing a career in mental health nursing, a new report claims.
‘Laying Foundations: Attitudes and access to mental health nurse education’ has been produced by the thinktank the Nuffield Trust. It warns that despite continued attempts to promote parity of esteem, the levels of demand to study mental health nursing in recent years look unlikely to support a sustainable supply of qualified nurses for the NHS.
