MUST-SEE, WHY?
“Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now,” said Matrix 4 director and co-writer Lana Wachowski in a statement. “I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life.” She’s not the only one. Little is yet known about this fourquel, but with Keanu Reeves returning as hacker-turned-messiah Neo, Jada Pinkett-Smith back on board as freedom fighter Niobe, and Carrie-Anne Moss completing the holy Trinity, you can count us in for another slab of mysticism, ass-kicking and mind-bending virtual reality – and even more so given Jonathan Groff (Mindhunter), Neil Patrick Harris (Gone Girl) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman) are wading into the action, with the latter rumoured to be playing a younger version of Laurence Fishburne’s Morpheus. With Warners moving the release date forward from April 2022 to December 2021, it seems that confidence is high. Whoa! JG
