MORNING PEOPLE ACHIEVE FASTER MARATHON TIMES
Research published in the Journal of SleepResearch has revealed that people who tend to be more productive in the mornings are most likely to achieve their target marathon time.
Nearly 1,000 runners who had previously participated in the London Marathon took part in the study, which was designed to improve awareness of the various factors that can affect your marathon performance. The time it takes you to transition to being fully alert after waking – your sleep inertia – was also found to be significant. Athletes who take more than 30 minutes to reach full wakefulness were found to run more slowly.
