Sneyd provides Hull’s downfall
SALFORD RED DEVILS saw off a spirited challenge from a reinvigorated Hull FC side in a superbly tight Super League fixture.
It was a game that was impossible to call pre-match, with both teams currently possessing that all-important phenomenon in sport - momentum. Hull had won four on the bounce, and were unbeaten in May, which is some turnaround following their abject start to the season.
Salford are equally buoyed at present, boosted by a string of victories and the general good feeling about the club. It’s a galvanising atmosphere that seems to continually encourage Paul Rowley’s men to punch above the club’s financial weight and play some flamboyant football. They were also boosted by Andy Ackers, Tim Lafai, Ken Sio and Jack Ormondroyd, who were all returning to the seventeen.
Tim Lafai holds onto the ball as Darnell McIntosh and Cameron Scott challenge
Hull, meanwhile, arrived following a convincing victory over Castleford in the Cup. Sadly, the win came at a cost, with captain Carlos Tuimavave picking up a hamstring injury which instigated a reshuffle in the backs as Cameron Scott slotted in at centre and Darnell McIntosh returned on the wing. Ligi Sao and Scott Taylor, however, were back and available.
