HALIFAX PANTHERS ended their mini-slump after winning at Wembley by running in five tries to pile pressure on Jonty Gorley’s Whitehaven as the Championship relegation battle ended the day closer than it started with only three rounds to go.
The Panthers secured their first two points since defeating league leaders Featherstone at the start of last month, despite being on the end a one-sided penalty count which was 7-1 at the half time break. Simon Grix’s side, however, looked the better side throughout and showed their class in the second half with discipline vastly improved, allowing them tocontrol field position and possession while scoring four second-half tries.
