WIGAN WARRIORS 64 SALFORD RED DEVILS 0
DAVID KUZIO
The Brick Community Stadium, Thursday
AS SOON as Salford released their matchday squad it was assumed that this game would be a one-sided affair.
And they were not wrong as Wigan barely got out of second gear to end the regular season with a comfortable victory to see them retain the League Leaders’ Shield for the first time ever.
Without being too harsh on Salford, this game was never really a contest as the Warriors ran in five tries to lead 28-0 at the break.
Liam Marshall, Jai Field, Bevan French, Zach Eckersley and Jake Wardle all crossed in the first 40 minutes with Salford barely seeing any of the ball.
Field scored twice in the second half to complete a hat-trick, while Kruise Leeming added two tries with Marshall and French both grabbing their second tries to end the campaign on top of the ladder.
