We often like to have a little giggle with our covers: “What’s that crazy Tux up to this month?” This issue, though, the subject of ewaste isn’t really a laughing matter. It feels like Microsoft and not just Intel but the whole processor industry are gearing up for another round of forced upgrades, this time regarding AI. The introduction of Copilot and the idea of an “AI” PC with Copilot key, and minimum AI hardware requirements, smacks of an industry desperate to sell fresh silicon, packing TOPs-generating neural processing units.
