Bodhi 5.1
DESKTOP SATORI
MIN SPECS: 500MHZ CPU >> 512MB RAM >> 5GB DISK
It’s been a while since we’ve had Bodhi on the Linux Format disc. But then again it’s not been that long since we’ve actually had a disc again. So here it is, our favourite Linux distro that uses the venerable Enlightenment desktop. And we have not one but two incarnations of Bodhi.
First up, we’ve got the 32-bit Legacy release which should run on hardware up to 15-years old, and with a little work can be made to run on even older machines. It works on non-PAE processors such as early Pentiums and Celerons that have a hard 4GB memory addressing limit (as opposed to the widely misinterpreted per-process limit on PAE-enabled 32-bit chips). The long-term future of 32-bit Bodhi isn’t clear. There won’t be a version based on Ubuntu 20.04, because Canonical doesn’t make 32-bit Fossa packages and at this stage it would be a heavy yoke for anyone to take on. Still, this one will see updates until 2023, so there’s no need to worry just yet.
