Linux distribution
Debian 12.10
Nate Drake explores the latest stable point release for Bookworm. Does the OS still live up to its reputation for stability?
IN BRIEF
Debian isn’t flashy. Instead it offers a mature and stable OS with easy setup. You mightn’t benefit from all the latest software features but it’s a reliable daily driver.
We last covered Debian 12 (code name Bookworm) when it was released in LXF305. As most readers know, the OS is one of the oldest versions of Linux in active development.
Debian follows a painstaking development process, whereby project members carefully curate packages for stability. This is why the OS forms the basis of so many popular Linux distros, such as Ubuntu.
