I love train travel – you get to observe these little vignettes of people’s lives flashing past the window. In London, most commuters don’t notice what’s before them and I’m drawn to the ordinary scenes that get overlooked, like this view towards Battersea Power Station (below). I made some quick sketches from a bridge to base my print on, then went back to find that the gasometer had been taken down. It was such a landmark, I kept it in as it shows how London is changing so quickly, like a lot of cities. The train lines act as a path, leading you into the picture.
