Watch the weather on Mac
If you’re obsessed with the weather, your Mac has your back
IT WILL TAKE
10 minutes
YOU WILL LEARN
To add the Weather app as a menu bar item and make the most of its features
YOU’LL NEED
macOS 15.2 or later
You could, of course, look out of the window to see if the sun is shining or if it’s pouring with rain but that won’t tell you the temperature, wind speed, humidity levels, pressure or air pollution levels. For that level of detail, you can simply glance at your Mac thanks to Apple’s wonderful Weather app which is now making it even easier to get the information you need.
With macOS 15.2 or later, you can check the weather in gradual steps. Activate the new menu bar item, for instance, and you’ll be able to see a very short snapshot of the weather. Click that and you can go a bit deeper. Click again and you’ll go deeper still, enjoying detailed datasets that wouldn’t be out of place on a professional forecasters’ desk – it now goes as far as giving ‘feels like’ temperature as well as actual temperature whenever they significantly differ.
