Q How can I clean inside the lid of my MacBook Air M2 without it starting up?
by GRAHAM JONES
There are two distinct problems here: how to stop your Mac from starting up when you open its lid to clean its display, and how to stop it from starting up when you press any of its keys or its trackpad while you’re cleaning them.
Provided it’s running macOS Sequoia, you can now change auto boot behaviour in Apple silicon notebooks using the BootPreference setting in NVRAM. To disable auto boot when opening the lid or connecting to power, open Terminal and type: sudo nvram BootPreference=%00
