THE EUROPEAN UNION has begun proceedings to force Apple to improve iPhone and iPad interoperability with third–party devices. It wants all smartwatches, headphones, and other devices, regardless of manufacturer, to integrate more closely into iOS. It says it will instruct Apple how to provide more seamless support for connectivity, device pairing, notifications, and more.
