WITH THE RELEASE of the latest generation of processors and GPUs, we were expecting a fall in the price of components this time around, especially in the budget department. Yet, here we are, scanning through all the catalogs, only to find that our CPU and GPUs, on the whole, are much the same price as last month.
We say “on the whole” because the MSI MECH 2X OC Radeon RX 6650 XT 8 GB on the AMD machine saw a drop of around $50 from the previous month’s price, so we can’t complain about that. Maybe all the new launches raised our expectations for these builds and we’re yet to feel the effects of this trickling down into the budget market. Or perhaps we should just be grateful that prices of components aren’t still skyrocketing, as they were this time last year. After all, at this price point, you can still grab a fairly powerful machine capable of 1080p gaming.
