Battlemage next year
Intel entered the graphics card market with a fanfare, but things have gone quiet. Its first Arc Alchemist cards were adequate low to mid-range options, but it is playing a long game. A leaked slide showing the Arc Discrete graphics card roadmap appeared online, showing Intel’s second-generation Arc cards, Battlemage, aren’t due until early 2024. First will be the 225W BMG-G10 chip, aimed at the enthusiast market’s ‘sweet spot’, followed by a 150W per formance part. Battlemage will include nextgen memor y sub-systems, better architecture and ray tracing, plus other improvements. The market needs more affordable midrange cards now, so Intel’s slow approach is frustrating.
