Win10 is dead
From Januar y, you can no longer buy a Windows 10 license, so it’s Win11 or nothing. This should at least push the adoption numbers up—there are 1.4 billion Windows systems and only 16 percent are on Win11, meaning the majority are now running a ‘legacy’ OS. Win10 will receive full suppor t from Microsoft until October 2025. Win7 has just come to the end of its three-year Extended Security Update, with impor tant security patches. Win8.1 has also reached the end of its suppor t but was never popular. Old versions of Windows tend to die slowly, so Win10 should be fine for a few years yet. Win7 had 13 years of suppor t, and given the slow migration to Win11, we can expect a similar timescale here.
