Wendy Dio has a lot of love for the Metallica guys and the way they support the charity
How did Metallica’s contribution to 2014’s Dio tribute album, This Is Your Life, come about?
“When we did the This Is Your Life tribute, I got contacted and told that Metallica wanted to get involved and record a song for us. Obviously I was blown away by that, because they’re such a great band. In the end, they couldn’t decide on one song, so they decided to do four songs in a medley instead [A Light In The Black, Tarot Woman, Stargazer and Kill The King]. If you listen to Kill The King, it’s such a great version of it. It brought the song back into modern times. I listen to it all the time. Metallica obviously love Ronnie’s music, but I think they surprised themselves with what a great job they did. Everybody worked so hard on that whole album, and gave their time and talent. It’s still raising money for the charity [The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund], which I’m really pleased about.”
