Sweden’s madcap showmen roll up in scintillating form
Avatar: the perfect antidote to the winter blues

IT’S ALWAYS A good time whenever the Swedish metal circus Avatar roll into town, and tonight at the Forum is certainly no exception. Drawing heavily from 2014’s breakthrough Hail The Apocalypse and their most recent album, Dance Devil Dance, the delightfully wacky Gothenburg five-piece are ever the consummate entertainers as they emerge from cages and rip into the self-titled opening track from the latter with a contagious energy that instantly invokes frenzy from the London crowd. An onslaught of heaviness from the outset, they start at a 10 and don’t let up for close to two hours.
