US metalcore quintet take the comfortable route through chaos
This Nashville metalcore crew claim that the intent for their second album was to make everything faster, louder, more chaotic and more unpredictable than 2020’s Cost Of Sacrifice. That should be applauded, but it’s a shame they didn’t focus on the unpredictable part a little more. A Love To Kill For is a serviceable metallic hardcore album, but one that clings rigidly to the tropes and formula of the subgenre without delivering any truly exceptional songs. It’s only when you get to the penultimate title track that some melodic and electronic elements are utilised – a trope in itself at this point – to break things up. For metalcore completists only.
