Model Engineer  |  4542
A first report from IMLEC including the full results table and more for competition enthusaists (albeit rather more 'sedate') a report from last year's 'Curly Bowl' - the LBSC Challenge Trophy which took place at Chesterfield.
Tony Wright brings us the 'Next Step Steam Plant' with a nod to his earlier articles. Tony writes for the beginner and novice model engineer and this time he creates and brings to life a tiny engine and boiler that really do work!
There's another article for a specific sector of our readership - those model engineers who are keen to make a beautiful locomotive but are unable (for whatever reason) or disinterested in making a working boiler: Robert Hobbs shares his tips on machining and model making to make Locomotives for Display.
Regular features include Mariner, the Garrett 4CD and more from Ian Couchman on his beautiful 3 inch scale threshing drum. George Punter provides further drawings for the Suanderson & Mills tractor (which will be on display at MEX!!).
Ron Wright begins another very interesting study, this time of the Epicycle Gear Train. We all know what it is but how many of us really understand how it works? Ron's text is, as always, both readable and informative.
