Christmas – a time for giving… it a rest? I write this at the beginning of December, and while the radio has started playing the odd Christmas hit – and Fairytale of New York having an added poignancy this year with Shane McGowan joining fellow vocalist Kirsty MacColl in that great rock ‘n’ roll band in the sky – the full festive frenzy is yet to properly kick in.
However, you are likely to read this on or just before the Christmas weekend itself, with the big day just around the corner.
