Snow scenes offer something different to the usual summertime appearance of most layouts.

Several years ago, I built a diorama to experiment with new static grass products, and I wondered how easy it might be to change the season of the project from summer to winter.
Deluxe Materials is a company that is well known in model railway circles for its extensive range of adhesives and scenic products, including a variety of ‘snow’ materials. In fact, a Scenic Snow kit is available, containing a large jar of snowflakes, an adhesive fluid and a small jar of Icy Sparkles that add a finishing – and glittery – touch!
The snowflakes can be used in several different ways, the most straightforward of which is to apply them in the same way as typical scatter materials. Brush the liquid adhesive onto the surface and, when it turns tacky, sprinkle the snow in place.
