A UNIQUE FIGURE in jazz, Jack DeJohnette was in demand for over 60 years as a drummer of unrivalled range, creativity and musicality by the music’s most intrepid bandleaders, including Charles Lloyd, Miles Davis, Keith Jarrett, Lester Bowie and Herbie Hancock. In addition, DeJohnette was a composer who led or co-led nearly 50 albums straddling rock, soul, avant-garde, R&B, world music and post-bop, on which he would often play piano, organ, synthesizer and melodica.
