● Born in Germany in 1986, Marie Bärsch began her life as a photographer by chance in her late teens after picking up a friend’s camera and shooting at random.
● Eventually her hobby evolved into a full-time career when she turned professional in 2013, dedicating herself to fashion and beauty photography for some major industry brands.
● Marie’s polished style of imagery has quickly attracted many international clients, including MAC Cosmetics, Eucerin, Nescafe, Hansaplast, ProFoto, Amazon Germany, Capture One and, of course, Nikon.
● Her magazine clients include, but are not limited to, Vogue, Elle, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Tatler, L’Officiel, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Conde Nast Traveller and Women’s Health.
● Marie is a Nikon Ambassador. Her first book, My Kind of Beauty, featuring many of her fashion and beauty photographs of the past decade is available now.

F ashion and beauty is arguably the most visible and widespread form of photography around. Consider all the advertising imagery we see for beauty and fashion products online, as well as the huge displays of magazine cover models, the spring and autumn collection catwalk shows, cosmetic display boards, clothing catalogues and TV advertising campaigns. Fashion and beauty is a massive global business and it is the imagery of flawless faces and statuesque bodies that sells the product.
In such a dynamic field, there are many photographers competing for the big brand commission and the celebrity recognition that can lead to. Some photographers have become as well known as the brands they shot: Avedon, Demarchelier, Testino, Lindbergh. With less than a decade as a working pro, Marie might not yet be a household name, but she has already built an impressive client list of major fashion and beauty brands, leading to regular shoots in the international capitals of sunshine and glamour: Cape Town, Dubai, Miami, Los Angeles. But early success has not spoilt her – Marie remains wedded to her home town of Leipzig, in Germany’s east, where she and Alex, her life partner and image retoucher, combine their respective talents to ensure that MarieB and DgtlCraft, the retouching studio, remain in vogue…
