WHAT WE LOVE
The Nikon D750 is one of our favourite full-frame cameras of all time, combining intuitive, easy handling with powerful performance and immaculate image quality, even at those very high ISO settings. The D780 goes one (or more) better, being Nikon’s first and so far only DSLR to feature phase-detection autofocus on the image sensor.
This makes it as capable as Nikon’s mirrorless cameras for fast and accurate autofocus in Live View and movie capture modes. It also adds a handy touchscreen, which was sorely missed on the D750, for intuitive and quick focus point selection.
WHAT’S MISSING?
The D780 doesn’t score so highly in the value for money stakes. Body for body, it’s nearly twice the price of the D750.
