Mark Ferguson, of 2A Castle Road, Dunollie, pleaded guilty to getting involved in a fight and breaching the peace. He was fined £300. The court heard warrants are still outstanding for two other men who are co-accused. Ferguson had been standing outside a takeaway when the other men appeared on the other side of the street and they caught each other’s eye. Words were exchanged before they met in the middle of the road and started throwing punches at each other. The incident was caught on CCTV.
The court was told how the members of the public intervened but the fight kept fiaring up and police attended. Ferguson, a 33-year-old joiner who had been out drinking that day, said he would not have behaved that way if he had been sober. He had to get hospital treatment for a head and eye injury. SherifiPatrick Hughes said: ‘This kind of behaviour ruins the quality of life for the public in Oban.’
