Western Isles MSP Alasdair Allan made the case for an ‘Islands Deal’ at a reception at the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday February 27. He was joined by Liberal Democrat MSPs for Orkney and Shetland, Liam McArthur and Tavish Scott, who co-sponsored the event, and Islands Deal programme director David Amos.
Fiose in attendance last Wednesday evening heard how the three authorities have collaborated in their efiorts for two years to create the ambitious Islands Deal proposals.
The deal would transform the economies of Scotland’s island economies. The proposals build on the unique strengths of the isles, and include specific proposals covering areas such as tourism and low carbon energy.
