OBAN’S 10-day Winter Festival began in spectacular fashion on Friday, with many events from ballet to whisky tasting selling out.

Tonight (Thursday) there will be ‘more shops than ever’ opening for late night shopping, promised festival committee chair Pamela Lockhart, with stores offering discounts of up to 25 per cent.

Last Saturday saw more than 2,000 people through Oban Distillery’s door for the food and craft market, as well as a ‘very busy’ Victorian market at the Rockfield Centre, and a ‘huge’ reindeer parade, sponsored and supported by BID4Oban, with the street crier doing ‘a great job’ directing people at Stafford Street amongst costumed Victorians.
