Amanda receives her award from Val Elliott.
AN INSPIRATIONAL young woman from Oban has risen to the challenge to achieve the highest award in Girlguiding. Amanda MacNeill, 22, was presented with her Queen’s Guide Award at the House of Commons earlier this month by Val Elliott, who chairs Girlguiding’s board of trustees, and Sally Illsley, deputy chief guide.
To achieve the prestigious award, Amanda, who works as a receptionist at the Isle of Eriska Hotel and is a leader at the 1st Taynuilt Brownies and a member of Girlguiding Scotland’s Lones senior section, took on a series of personal challenges in areas such as social action, voluntary work and travel.
