Festival Fun
Britain is abuzz with yoga festivals this summer. Here’s our quick guide to what’s happening and where
COLOURFEST, DORSET
May 31-June 3, 2018 colourfest.co.uk
Cool for kids and adults alike, the seventh Colourfest returns to Gaunts House in the beautiful Dorset countryside this year, but be quick…the event takes place from May 31 to June 3. A celebration of yoga, dance, music, ceremony, theatre and arts, this alcoholfree and child-friendly event has yoga at its heart with a diverse range of styles including acro yoga and partner yoga. There’s also a wellbeing programme that includes gong baths, sound healing, meditation and personal development workshops. The festival’s kids’ area boasts an outdoor pool, a woodland fairy walk and tents for crafts, storytelling, children’s yoga, hooping and theatre.
YOGA CONNECTS, CAMBRIDGESHIRE
June 29-July 1, 2018 yogaconnects.co.uk
Set in the stunning grounds of a Georgian manor house in Cambridgeshire, Yoga Connects launched in 2015 and is now a firm favourite on the summer calendar for many yoga fans. There’s a full range of yoga styles and classes here, as well as alternative wellness and holistic therapies. For the more adventurous yogi who likes a challenge, there’s aerial yoga, circus silks and acro yoga. Or for something a little more relaxing, there’s yin yoga, meditation, gong baths, hot tubs and spa and massage facilities, so you can put your feet up and wind down. Yoga isn’t the only thing to get your heart pumping and your adrenaline going either: here you’ll also find shamanic ceremonies, dancing, drumming, Capoeira (an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics, and music), plus some all-round raving.
