A BUG’S LIFE
Pilot tiny mechs and brawl with bugs in STONEFLY
By Rachel Watts
All the mechs in Stoneflyhave a distinct insectinspired design.
I must have not gotten the memo about the entire human race being shrunk.
The Acorn Crops, a rag-tag group of travellers.
You can push bugs away with a gentle gust of wind.
Mechs in games are usually huge killing machines that can punch through buildings. Pure metal, fuel, and servos, ready to unleash destruction and chaos on anyone that gets caught in the crossfire. But the mechs in the adventure game Stonefly are not like that. Sure, you’re still controlling an intimidating machine, but these miniature mechs are light on their robotic feet, hopping and gliding with ease.
Stonefly puts a magnifying glass over a forest’s undergrowth, letting you take a peek at an entire bug ecosystem, all from the safety of the world’s smallest mech. You play as a young engineer and inventor named Annika who’s on a mission to find her father’s stolen rig. On her escapades she meets the Acorn Corps, a group of castaways in search of an elusive piece of folklore called the Crystal Phantom, and decides to join their group. Piloting your own bug-like robot, you’ll need to help Annika search the dizzying highs and dangerous lows of the forest’s miniature hidden world.
