There was a curious split across our poll on X and Facebook, with XP the clear winner on the former but Windows 95 earning win after win on the latter. Backers included one of our much-missed writers, now retired, Paul Ockenden: “95, because I was part of the beta prog and used to enjoy having a UPS(*) dude bringing me new CDs a couple of times a week! (*) Brown van man, not uninterruptible power supply.”
