Dell’s Pro 13 Premium certainly lives up to its name
S
ay what you like about Dell’s new branding strategy (see opposite), but you can’t accuse it of false advertising. The Dell Pro 13 Premium reeks of professionalism from every dark grey pore, while the recycled magnesium finish could not look any classier. If you want a laptop to whip out of a bag and make a great first impression, this is it.
Dell also promises “commercialgrade durability” and claims it’s passed MIL-STD 810 H testing. While it’s light on detail here, I’m willing to cut it slack due to the obvious build quality on show. This laptop feels so sturdy, so dense, that I would fear for my life if someone came at me swinging with one. Despite this, it won’t weigh you down at a fraction over 1.1kg.
There are skinnier laptops – it tapers from 18mm at its highest rear point to 16.6mm at the front – but it’s wonderfully compact thanks to the super-slim side bezels. And considering that Dell packs a pair of Thunderbolt 4/USB-C4 ports, 3.5mm combo jack, HDMI 2.1 connector and a USB-A port into this frame I’m not going to quibble over a millimetre or two.
