A
sa Google Labs product, ImageFX sits beside other “experiments” such as GenType for producing AI-generated alphabets, TextFX for playing with language components, and MusicFX, which uses prompts to generate music.
The quality of the output is difficult to criticise, so the fact that it’s free to anyone with a Google Account is particularly impressive. It’s also fun. After running through our test prompts, we started to explore more esoteric options. “A badly framed holiday photo taken in the Algarve that just misses a woman proposing to her boyfriend because it was slightly out of the frame” delivered what could well have been several poorly shot beach photos with shallow depth of field, selective blurring and hands reaching into the frame.
