BLURRED VISION
A tight DoF is a major attraction of fast primes
It’s often said that blurring the background is good for portraiture, but a tight depth of field can work wonders in many shooting scenarios. For still life images, close-ups and pretty much any time you want to make the main subject stand out against busy or cluttered surroundings, blurring the foreground or background (or both) is the easiest way to do it. This series of shots shows how the various ‘wide-open’ apertures of the lenses on test compare with 50mm at f/5.6.
