Need for speed
The RF mount’s fast communication opens up a whole new range of photo possibilities
EOS R bodies have been designed with speed in mind. The extra data that’s able to be pushed across the RF mount between the cameras and lenses has allowed for numerous performance improvements over with the EF system.
For example, there’s the enhanced continuous shooting speed. Both the EOS R5 and EOS R6 can shoot continuously at up to 12fps (frames per second) using their mechanical shutters, or 20fps when their electronic shutters are active. In the EOS DSLR line-up, the flagship EOS-1D X Mark III flagship DLSR can hit 20fps, but that’s only when using Live View mode on the rear screen (which is not always convenient). The new EOS R3 is set to eclipse this, with a top speed of 30fps – with full autofocus tracking too.
