I want to give video a try, but which resolution and frame rate is best to use?
BRIAN SAYS… For stills most people opt for the maximum resolution, but for video this can make the editing process much harder than it needs to be. If you simply want to share some video on social media, then FullHD 1920 x 1080 pixels is sufficient. Shoot in 4K or higher if you playback on 4K monitors, though you’ll need more computer power to work with 4K footage as it has four times as much data in each frame as FullHD.
25fps is the standard frame rate, while 50fps or more allows you to retime the movie down to 25fps for slow motion effects. EOS cameras have very high quality movies designed for a wide range of editing so if you only need to combine a few clips, then choose IPB light compression to maximise the amount of footage on a memory card.
FullHD at 25fps is a good starting choice as a recording size for novice movie makers as it’s easy to edit and maximises space on memory cards
Auto AF case seems to work well on the EOS R7, so what are the benefits of choosing a specific AF case?
