What is a microbiome?
It is likely that you have heard that humans have a much greater number of bacterial cells than human cells. Our gut, mainly the large intestine, contains a wide variety of bacteria, some known through research to be beneficial to health (sometimes called ‘probiotics’) and others unhelpful or harmful. Microbiome is the word used to describe the collection of all these bacteria in the gut.
