DEFENDING her decision to proscribe Palestine Action in the
Observer
last month, home secretary Yvette Cooper again cited “the attack on a Glasgow factory” in July 2022 as one of her examples of how terroristic the group is.
The incident, which took place at French arms manufacturer Thales’s site in Govan, was also mentioned by Cooper in the Home Office’s press release about Palestine Action, which stated: “Staff fled for safety as pyrotechnics and smoke bombs were thrown in evacuation areas. Such acts do not represent legitimate acts of protest and the level of seriousness of Palestine Action’s activity has met the test for proscription under the Terrorism Act 2000. ”
