Carpenter’s new music sees him keeping it in the family by collaborating with his son Cody and godson Daniel Davies (son of The Kinks’ guitarist Dave), who had previously worked alongside him on the soundtrack to 2018’s Halloween reboot. He relished composing outside the film world again.
“It was refreshing to be able to write music didn’t have to fit to any sort of locked image,” says Carpenter senior. “We had a specific focus and direction we wanted to follow when working on Halloween, both in terms of mindset and instruments. Being able to return to working without that narrow focus was refreshing.”
