XEKI
The International Symposium On The Internet Of Sounds, always yields extraordinary sound-making devices, including this. The XEKI (which stands for Expressive Electronic Keyboard Instrument) looks like an expensive woodworking tool crossed with a grenade launcher; it contains rounded, accordion-like keys, a large slider with a rubber handle inspired by the trombone, and it responds to tilting backwards and forwards, left and right. It’s just a proof of concept, but testament to the ingenuity of its creator – from drawing board to bizarre creation in just five weeks. www.haonanpeterzhang.com/xeki
