In his interview for this report, Robert Jenrick, the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, points out that the UK housing market has become increasingly financialised in the aftermath of the financial crisis as Quantitative Easing pushed asset values up sharply. This can clearly been seen in chart showing average house prices across the nations of the UK and the union as a whole.
