Q I’ve started a new role, after leaving a very toxic work environment. And, so far, it seems perfect: great boss, great colleagues, and a great company. I’m getting positive feedback on my work, too – but I still don’t feel safe or secure, somehow. I question what I say and how I say it, scared to come across as rude or mean; am fearful of giving constructive feedback; and if my boss wants to chat, I immediately freeze up, terrified that she will berate me. It’s been three months since I started now and, although I’m feeling a little better, I’m still uneasy. How can I move on and learn to relax again?
